
BJ Kang specializes in inbound tax planning for U.S.immigrants, the tax position of dual status citizens, tax treaties, U.S. immigration for foreign business and professional persons, tax residency, and state tax compliance. He is also experienced in assisting U.S.non-profits with a wide range of tax and governance matters. BJ is also a Virginia licensed Certified Public Accountant and an Enrolled Agent with the Internal Revenue Service.
Mr. Kang, who joined Flott & Co. in October 2011, worked previously as Director of Finance and Administration for the National Communication Association (2010-2011), Vice President for Finance and Controller, Middle East Institute (2007 to 2010), and Assistant Controller at Diamond Properties LLC (2006-2007). He was on the financial staff of the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University from 2002 to 2006. Fluent in Korean and Japanese, Mr. Kang co-founded one of the first on-line education companies in South Korea in 2000, prior to coming to the United States.
Mr. Kang earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the Catholic University Columbus School of Law in 2011, a Masters of Arts (M.A.) in Regional Studies: East Asia from Harvard University (2002), a Masters of Arts (M.A.) in Korean Literature from the Seoul National University(1999), and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Korean Literature from the Seoul National University(1997).
